Wine Road 290 Shuttle

Prefer to hop on hop off at your own pace? The Wine Road 290 Shuttle departs every 10 minutes from the Inn on Barons Creek on Washington Street (just off Main Street). This is an awesome way for visitors to Fredericksburg to tour the 290 Wine Trail with 16 wineries on route and shuttles leaving every 10 minutes from each destination.

URBAN WALKABLE VINO, SPIRITS, AND BREWS TASTING TRAIL EXPERIENCES ON AND CLOSE TO MAIN STREET, FREDERICKSBURG

You can sip and shop in Fredericksburg (although you’ll have to resort to a plastic container!). Many of the Hill Country wineries have extended their guest experience with tasting rooms to sample award-winning wines on Main Street, Fredericksburg. You’ll find everything from quaint historic cottages to trendy tasting rooms to customize your wine tasting experience in downtown Fredericksburg. Keep in mind that if you join a wine club the first day you are there, you often get a free glass of wine for you and a guest every day you are there! Thats not bad, when some of the wines are pretty expensive. I’m a member of Grapecreek right now, but plan to join Becker, one of the oldest award winning wineries in Fredericksburg area, plus one of the wine makers is friend of mine.

Fredericksburg Winery

Fredericksburg Winery has been family owned since 1996 and is the original in town winery where our bustling wine scene began. Learn about the history of Hill Country’s wine industry, tour the production facility and enjoy tastings 7 days a week. They have a great motto too – “Conserve Texas Water. Drink Texas Wine”.

Pontotoc Vineyard Weingarten

The Pontotoc Vineyard Weingarten is one of the oldest buildings in Fredericksburg, a quaint cottage with an authentic weinkeller, stone walled courtyard, and outdoor patio. They offer a small selection of vintage wines, delicious, iced Sangria, and picnic baskets to pair.  Their Sangri is chilled and perfect for a hot day.  You can have them bottle some up for you to take home and stop in for refills.

A few doors down is Perspective Cellars, an international wine bar in Admiral Nimitz’s historic birth home on Main Street. This charming home is beautifully preserved with bespoke rooms to unwind and sample curated flights of over 60 wines paired with cheese boards, small plates and artisanal chocolate treats.

Becker Vineyards

Becker Vineyards are the largest purchaser of French & American White Oak barrels in Texas with state of the art equipment processing 55 bottles per minute! Served in famous restaurants across the US, and to the President at the White House, you can sample their exclusive selection of wines in an upscale tasting room right here on Fredericksburg Main Street.

Texas Heritage Vineyard ♫

Texas Heritage is a small vineyard near Yee Haw Ranch on Hwy 290 with a tasting bar and a large outdoor deck with a fireplace and panoramic Hill Country views over the vineyards. The vineyard hosts fun events with Bingo & Vino evenings and live music on weekend afternoons.

Bingham Family Vineyards

Distance: 4 miles – Hwy 290

Bingham Family Vineyards Tasting Room is located at Yee Haw Ranch, you can’t miss the twin gray barns! The rustic barn exterior gives way to a unique ranch-style tasting room to sample their award-winning 100% Texas estate grown wines paired with a selection of mouthwatering charcuterie boards.

Barons Creek Vineyards is a Mediterranean Style winery with an elegant tasting room and bar, a covered patio with live weekend music, and tastings and experiences for all wine lovers. Their selection of exclusive wines are sourced from premier vineyards in California, Washington and Spain, and perfectly paired with cheese and charcuterie boards.

Fiesta Winery 290 ♫

Distance: 6 miles – Hwy 290

Fiesta Winery 290 is located in historic Rocky Hill along the 290 Wine Trail and is equally as fun and colorful as the Fredericksburg tasting room, with live music on Saturday afternoons. Find a seat at the bar, on the outdoor patio or under the shade of the oaks and sample their wide selection of fresh fruit sangrias and superior handcrafted wines.

Alexander Vineyards

Distance: 7 miles – Hwy 290

Alexander Vineyards is a European winery with a selection of old world wines from France, Spain, Italy and Germany and one of the largest selections of sparkling wines and champagnes on the 290 Wine Trail. It’s a must stop for bubbles and outdoor tastings under the towering Live Oaks.

Wildseed Vineyard Tasting Room ♫

Distance: 8 miles – Hwy 290

Wildseed Farms is the largest wildflower farm in the US and is a top attraction for visitors to Fredericksburg. In addition to pick your own wildflower fields, walking trails, fun family activities, and live music – the farm has a thriving Hill Country vineyard with an on-site tasting room to sample their small selection of 100% Texas wines.

Messina Hof

Messina Hof is one of the first wineries in Texas that has now expanded to four locations, including the Hill Country Tasting Room on the 290 Wine Trail. Messina Hof is the most award-winning winery in Texas Hill Country with a selection of over 50 wines from 100% Texas grown grapes to sample in the tasting room or on the scenic vineyard patio. Visit in fall for grape picking and stomping at the annual Harvest Festival, good fun for the whole family!

Grape Creek Vineyards

Signor Vineyards is one of the most beautiful wineries in the Texas Hill Country with sprawling vineyards and country gardens, majestic oaks and olive trees, a farm-house inspired market, and unique tasting experiences. From elevated tastings with advanced sommeliers to outdoor wine tastings in the gardens or picturesque Wine Barn, Signor Vineyards is a winery worth the stop on the 290 Wine Trail. 

Fat Ass Ranch & Winery ♫

Distance: 12 miles – Hwy 290

It’s whimsical, fun, and named after a donkey (nothing else!). Fat Ass Ranch & Winery and the Wine Garage is a fun stop for the whole family with tram rides, car themed wines, outdoor games, food trucks, and live music events. They produce the best sweet fruity wines in Fredericksburg, with delicious wine slushies for hot summer days and a fun atmosphere.

Hilmy Cellars ♫

Distance: 12.5 miles – Hwy 290

Hilmy Cellars is a scenic artisan winery to add to your must-visit wineries on the 290 Wine Trail. Sample their selection of reds, whites and roses at the tasting bar or settling in for an afternoon of live music on the pergola covered patio with tranquil vineyard views. Live music & food trucks on Saturday afternoons!

Arrowhead Creek Vineyard ♫

Distance: 13.5 miles – Hwy 290

You can even pair your wine tasting with fly fishing in Fredericksburg! Arrowhead Creek Vineyard is a little further along the 290 Wine Trail with a beautiful tasting room transformed from the original farmhouse, and a spacious verandah for sipping hand-crafted artisanal wines along the Pedernales River. The vineyard hosts live music on the outdoor pavilion and fun fly-fishing & vino pairing events during the year.

Becker Vineyards ♫

Distance: 14 miles – Becker Farms Road via Hwy 290

Becker Vineyards is one of the oldest wineries in the Texas Hill Country and one of the largest wineries in Texas, producing over 100,000 cases each year. Recently named the Top Texas Winery at the 2022 Rodeo Uncorked, Becker Vineyards boasts acres of vineyards and lavender fields, a state of the art winery in a reproduction of a late 19th century German stone barn, and elevated wine tasting experiences in the underground wine cellar, tasting room and outdoor patio overlooking the lavender fields. Complimentary tours of the Estate Winery production facility are offered daily.

Pedernales Cellars ♫

Distance: 17.5 miles – Upper Albert Road via Hwy 290

Pedernales Cellars is an award-winning winery set on 145 acres in the scenic Pedernales River Valley. Take a tour of the wine production and underground barrel cellar, reserve an exclusive tasting experience, or simply relax on the oak shaded deck with stunning views of the rolling hills. They host regular live music & food truck events so bring your picnic blanket for a laid back afternoon and good wine under the oaks.

Narrow Path Winery

Distance: 20 miles – Ranch Road via Hwy 290

Narrow Path Winery is a short drive off the 290 Wine Trail on Ranch Road. The sleek, stunning, and state of the art tasting room is nestled in the vineyards with gorgeous views from inside and outdoors on the shaded patio. Sample their selection of small batch wines paired with charcuterie boards, freshly baked breads and small seasonal plates.

Ab Astris Winery ♫

Distance: 13.5 miles – Klein Road via Hwy 290

Ab Astris Winery is a small, family-owned winery with twelve acres of vineyards next to LBJ National Park. Tastings are offered in the contemporary tasting room, on the outdoor patio, or under the oak trees – all with tranquil views of the vineyards. Ab Astris Winery offers elevated tasting events, live music, and markets on weekends throughout the year.

Hye Meadow Winery

Distance: 20 miles – Hwy 290

Hye Meadow is a family-friendly winery on the 290 Wine Trail with a small indoor tasting room, three outdoor decks, a shaded oak grove, and an expansive kid-friendly outdoor area with yard games and pet donkeys to feed. Take a tour of the barrel room and production facility, followed by a premium wine tasting of their wide variety of premium wines and creative blends.

Siboney Cellars

Distance: 27 miles – Hwy 290

Siboney Cellars is rated one of the top 10 wineries near Austin and is a favorite along the Fredericksburg 290 Wine Trail. The modern hillside winery produced 100% Texas wine “inspired by timeless passion” in a beautiful setting overlooking the terraced estate vineyards. Siboney Cellars has an experience for all wine lovers with tours of the vineyards and wine facility, classic wine tastings in the shade of the heritage oaks, evening twilight and fireside tastings, and perfectly paired picnic wine flights for an intimate wine tasting experience.

Augusta Vin ♫

Augusta Vin is nestled on a historical homestead just a short drive from Main Street. The modern double volume tasting room offers tasting experiences in the wine bar, private tasting tables, an upper balcony or outdoor tasting bars, all with panoramic vineyard views. Altstadt Brewery is an authentic Bavarian brewery just east of Fredericksburg on Hwy 290. Elk Store 1895 Distillery

The Elk Store 1895 is not only a hot spot for international and Texas wine tasting on Main Street! The original Elk Store was established in 1895 in Elk, Texas as a general store by a Czech immigrant, who later mastered his moonshine distilling skills during the Prohibition. Today, his great-grandsons, Todd & Scott, continue the family legacy at Elk Store 1895 Distillery on Fredericksburg Main Street. Sample a selection of premium small batch spirits crafted in an authentic Kentucky copper still, bottled on site, and served in style in the distillery tasting room or speakeasy Spirit & Wine Bar on Main Street.  

Dietz Distillery

Distance: 1.8 Miles

Fisher & Weiser’s Das Peach Haus, just south of downtown Fredericksburg, has a wonderful new addition – The Dietz Distillery founded in November 2021 by Dietz Fisher. The distillery produces small batches of high quality spirits including the dry London style Five Judges Gin and traditional peach and pear Eau De Vie (fruit brandy), with fruits fresh from the family orchards. Learn the history of distilling and old-world techniques of distilling and sample the innovative creations on the porch overlooking the Das Peach Haus pine forest and peach orchards.  

Luckenbach Road Whiskey Distillery

Distance: 9.8 Miles

COMING SOON! Luckenbach Road Whiskey Distillery is the latest addition to the distilleries in Texas Hill Country. In 1851, Henry Ochs immigrated to Fredericksburg and established the Buckhorn Saloon on Main Street, one of the most popular watering holes in Fredericksburg until the early 1920s. In 2018, inspired by his Texas Hill Country roots, the third great grandson of Henry Ochs and founder of Frontier Spirits began distilling and bottling Luckenbach Road Whiskey while searching for the perfect location in Texas Hill Country for a distillery. Luckenbach Road Whiskey Distillery opens to the public in 2023 on 28,000 scenic acres just off the 290 Wine Trail with distillery tours and immersive experiences for liquor lovers!

Salvation Spirits Distillery & Speakeasy

Distance: 10 Miles

Is speakeasy-style more your vibe? You’ll need a reservation and secret password to sip specialty spirits at Salvation Spirits. Salvation Spirits is set on a 10-acre orchard along the 290 wine route with a distillery barn, outdoor patio, hidden specialty cocktail lab and speakeasy, and great music events throughout the year. The environmentally conscious distillery produces premium craft brandy, gin and vodkas with unique fruit infusions using pears, plums, peaches and blackberries grown in their own orchards. It’s a chilled and relaxed vibe you’ll want to add to your unique experiences in Fredericksburg.

Garrison Brothers Distillery

Distance: 22 Miles

Established in 2005, Garrison Brothers Distillery is the first and oldest legal whiskey distillery in the Lone Star State, as well as one of the largest distilleries in Texas Hill Country. The Texas Whiskey Trail distillery is situated on a large working ranch two miles off the 290 Wine Trail near the historic town of Hye and produces only Bourbon, the best Bourbon in Texas! Take an open-air tractor tour of the ranch, stillhouse and barrel barn (free if you arrive by horse!) followed by bourbon tasting experiences paired with tasty Texas bites at the Whiskey Shack. A must-do for bourbon lovers touring Texas Hill Country.

Hill Country Distillers

Distance: 22.7 Miles

Hill Country Distillers are situated south of Fredericksburg in the historic town of Comfort. Since 2014, this small family-owned and operated distillery has been crafting specialty distilled spirits with unique distilling, fermentation and infusion processes, and fabulous flavor. From spiked Mexican hot chocolate and authentic Texas Dulces to prickly pear and zesty jalapeno spirits and the signature Sweet Ass mule, their creations showcase the fruits of Texas including peaches, jalapenos and the native Prickly Pear Cactus. Call to schedule a distillery tour or tasting or hang out in the shaded back yard with live music, big screen TV’s to catch the game and a cocktail bar to sample Hill Country Distillers finest!

Iron Goat Distillery

Iron Goat Distillery was established in 2016 and is already the winner of six industry awards for its 100% Blue Agave spirits, crafted rums and unique wildflower honey liquor. To date, their award-winning spirits have been available only in local bars, restaurants and liquor stores but the Iron Goat Distillery Tasting Room is coming to the all-new Grand Central on Milam Street soon!
