FEATURES & AMENITIES

Fredericksburg is a vacation destination famous not only for its rich German heritage and warm southern hospitality. A walk down historic Main Street (the widest Main Street in Texas!) will leave you wondering which direction to turn – the aroma of delicious food  in the air, the sounds of country music filtering through the streets, the atmosphere of happy travelers, and a near impossible choice of where to wine, dine and party the night away.

Whether you’re seeking a spot for the whole family to relax, an intimate gathering with the girls, or a night of moonshine, two-stepping in your cowboy boots, and late night karaoke.  If you are looking for live music early in the evening, drive through town with your windows down and see you you like the best.  You can hear country, old rock and roll, and even gospel music on Sunday early at Hondo’s.  Whatever you desire,  you’ll find it all right here in Fredericksburg, TX.

78624 The Bar ♫

Main Street, Fredericksburg, TX
Open until 9pm

The 78624 Bar is a classic (and classy) piano bar with inviting lounge areas, antique furnishings, a quaint courtyard, and some of the best cocktails in town! With a daily happy hour (4PM to 6PM), chilled piano music, light bites and charcuterie boards, and an amazing atmosphere, it’s the perfect place to sip cocktails in Fredericksburg (or get the Tiki Party Bowl for the whole crowd!).

Altdorf Restaurant & Biergarten ♫

Main Street, Fredericksburg, TX
Open until 9pm

The Altdorf Biergarten is a family-friendly restaurant and biergarten situated in a historic limestone building on Main Street, Fredericksburg and is owned by the same family that owns Crossroads Saloon and Steakhouse next door.   Sip on Altdorf’s famous sangria or German brews, dine on classic German or southwestern Tex-Mex plates, and settle into the sounds of live music in the biergarten every weekend. During the remodel, they found the original well that was hand dug  back in the day.  They changed the remodel to include a see through window on the floor above the well.  It’s crazy to see the stones used and the depth of the well and imagine it being hand dug!   Also a hidden gem is the bar that is in the back of the restaurant entered by another door.  You can sneak back there and see if there are open seats when it’s packed because they don’t take reservations for those.

Crossroads Saloon & Steakhouse ♫

Main Street, Fredericksburg, TX
Open until 9PM (Wednesday) 11PM (Thursday & Sunday), Late Friday & Saturday

Located in the West End of Fredericksburg, They have possibly one of the best steaks in town.  Crossroads is one of Texas Hill Country’s finest dining and live music venues. Enjoy exceptional dining in the traditional steak house (with a modern twist!), catch the game on a big screen TV, and sip cocktails, craft beer or fine wine and dance the night away in the Saloon with big band live music Wednesday through Sunday.  Downtown Fredericksburg has a noise ordinance that closes down most of the outdoor music spots at 10pm, but Crossroads is indoors,  has a gorgeous saloon, lots of seating and a huge dance floor.  They get large bands that you often have to pay a cover charge for, but its worth it.  You will often see groups of bridesmaids going “wild” on the dance floor.

If you plan on drinking, this is only 5 blocks from our newest place, called the Cosmopolitan on Main, and 12 blocks from “Its 5 Oclock Somewhere” and “ The Uncorked Cottage”.

Granite House Lounge is a Fredericksburg foodie hotspot, located in the Warehouse District of Fredericksburg only a few blocks from historic Main Street. Only a year or so old, it has a great outdoor area to hang out while waiting to dine.   Dine on New Orleans inspired classics like fried green tomatoes and shrimp & grits, and sip from a selection of signature cocktails, beer on tap, and fine wines – indoors or on the heated, fairy-lit outdoor patio.  This is not downtown, so it is sometimes less crowded because many tourists don’t know it’s there.  If it’s busy, you can hang out in the yard on a adirondack and have drinks until a table opens up.

El Milagro Twenty Twelve ♫

Most people from out of town don’t know this, but they  also have amazing desserts.  Evidently one of the owners relatives loves to bake and makes the most scrumptious desserts that have  MASSIVE servings.   If it’s crowded, just hang out near the stairs and pounce when you see a table leave.  There is a lot of inside seating, but most sit outside.

Open until 9pm

Hondo’s is a funky and fun self-serve restaurant with an indoor restaurant, two bars and a large backyard with benches.  They have  live music Wednesday through Sunday, and plenty of room for two-stepping on the patio.   They usually have country music groups playing here and have a fun circular dance area where you often see “two steppin”.   Bring your family because it’s like going to a family wedding in the sense that you will see Moms and Dads dancing with their kids. It’s also where a few elderly widowed  men hang out who  ask women to dance with them.  I’ve taken them up on it a time or two.

You’ll find handmade margaritas (best in town!), and a great menu with everything from their wonderful barbecue,  bar food and sandwiches to Mexican, or Texas fried chicken steak.  They have a second bar in the back that many don’t know about which has a much shorter line.  Make sure someone from your group gets in line early for food and drinks as the line can be REALLY long.  Get two drinks each while you are at it.  They don’t have wait staff.

You are going to love this place, but be ready to wait a long while! Lutz, the owner worked as a German baker for 20 years before immigrating to the USA to take over this place. They serve lunch and dinner with everything being made from scratch. They also had a bread/sweet bread case with loads of incredibly delicious loaves of breads and European Pastries made fresh every day to take home.

Emma and Ollies- breakfast and lunch

607 S Washington
The owner is known for her amazing food and the many restaurants she has opened in her life. This one is off the beaten path, meaning, not downtown. It’s worth your time. I’ve heard rave reviews over and over again.

Sage Restaurant and Lounge

241 East Austin
A newer restaurant that is very elegant, bougy, with amazing décor and great outdoor space. Their food is incredibly tasty and trendy. They have really cool loungy rooms to hang out in as well. Make sure you make reservations, but I heard from the hostess that even without reservations you can often get in at minimum for drinks in the upstairs area and often to dine as well. She said they do that so locals can still walk in.

Texas Sunrise

105S Adams
Great for breakfast or lunch with amazing pancakes and endless really, really good coffee.

Pasta Bellas

103 S Llano
This is one of my favorite restaurants to go. It remind me of the tiny restaurants you see all over New York, kinda like a hole in the wall. You must have one of the group get the Pasta Bella dish! I could eat it every day. I also like that they will change it up for you. If you want your sauce or dish over veggies . instead of pasta they will accommodate you. Great dessert choices too. They do a huge take out business as well. They advertise that they give Texas size servings.
